Munster National at Limerick

The Ladbrokes.com Munster National is taking place on Sunday, 9th October, 2011 at Limerick racecourse.
The first race is due off at 2:30pm with seven National Hunt races on the card including the Ladbrokes.com Munster National, The Grade 3 PWC Chase and the newly upgraded Grade 3 Greenmount Novice Hurdle.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s race meeting, Russell Ferris- General Manager of Limerick Racecourse said; “The preliminary entry stage for horses being entered to run at the applicable race meeting is always an exciting time, the anticipation doubles when the card contains two Grade 3 Races and the Grade A Ladbrokes Munster National. Now we know who may be running and the competition already looks to be top notch. The most exciting race on paper could come in the form of the Pricewaterhouse Coopers Grade 3 chase where last seasons multiple Grade 1 winner (which included the Powers Gold Cup), Realt Dubh would go head-to-head with second-placed horse in the Powers Gold Cup Loosen My Load, with the English raider West With The Wind a very useful performer who could be a very lively contender.

“The Grade 3 Greenmount Park Novice Hurdle, has some very in-form horses, none more so than the five-time consecutive winner Manger Hanagment from the Gordon Elliot stable. The top two rated animals in the race are the Ted Walsh-trained, Royal Revelle and the locally trained Domination from the Charles Byrnes yard, both of whom if declared, will be sure to be in the money end of matters come the finishing post.

“The headline race of the day, the Grade A Ladbrokes.com Munster National has 26 preliminary entries, two of which are based in Britain. Last year’s winner Golden Kite has been trained specifically with this race in target and if the rain stays away and the ground gets back to good, he may very well take all the beating. Uncle Junior of the prolific Willie Mullins yard and Muirhead from the Noel Meade stable, as would be expected from the respected trainers will be coming to Limerick at peak fitness, should they run in the race will certainly put down a marker for the rest of the field.”

Munster National day at Limerick is becoming synonymous with style and high fashion stakes as it is also the annual Ladies Day at Limerick Racecourse. Judging the competition this year are two of the best known faces in Irish entertainment, Lisa Cannon and Karen Koster of TV3’s Xpose Show. These two glamorous ladies know a thing or two about style and are anticipating a high level of competition from the Limerick Ladies.

Karen Koster said: “October can be a tricky time to go racing. Actually it can be a tricky time to leave the house! The weather is so unreliable; it can be hard to plan an outfit. So I hope to see some weather appropriate outfits, there’s nothing worse than accessorising with goose bumps. And most of all, someone who looks high fashion, but on a low budget. If you’re wearing a bargain, you’ve got my vote!”

Judge Lisa Cannon added: “I am looking for a woman that has an elegant approach to fashion and can tailor make her own style to suit her shape. Most importantly it’s all about individuality and sophistication when it come to the Races but all in all, mixing and matching from Vintage to the High Street and beyond shows a flair and touch of innovate style. Be bold, be beautiful and above all be brave!”
